Courtney Hughett has been in journalism since 1998. She has worked for the Brown County Democrat in Nashville, Indiana; the Loogootee Tribune, The Shoals News and the Washington Times-Herald. She has won 13 awards from the Hoosier State Press Association.

Courtney is the editor, publisher, photographer, ad designer, salesperson and reporter for The Journal and runs the publication by herself, with occasional help from her husband.

Courtney has been married to her husband, Josh, since 1998 and they have two sons, Wyatt and Alex. Courtney grew up in Loogootee and moved to Brown County in 1995. She met her husband in 1996, in Brown County, where he grew up. They moved back to Loogootee in 2007. Josh works at Jasper Engines. The couple also runs the Martin County Humane Society Animal Shelter and have since 2012.
